The Three from the Campsite - In the film “Indian Summer” women face life anew

No, they're not old women yet. Friends Astrid (Ursula Strauss), Elli (Pia Hierzegger), and Isabella (Diana Amft) are around 50 and have been camping together for a week each summer for 25 years. Always at the same spot.
This year, however, the mood in the cramped caravan is somber. And not just because of the miserable weather. Elli, in particular, is preoccupied with her thoughts elsewhere: with her recently completed chemotherapy and her pregnant daughter. Then, a twist of fate allows the trio a spontaneous trip to Venice. Things can only get better, right?
One wonders what Pia Hierzegger, who not only plays one of the main roles but also wrote and directed the film, is trying to achieve. But little by little, one realizes: Astrid, with her patronizing manner, and the less successful actress Isabella, with her penchant for married men, are also at a point where they have to re-examine their lives.
Their reorientation is easy to understand thanks to the authentic acting of Hierzegger & Co.
“Indian Summer”, directed by Pia Hierzegger, with Pia Hierzegger, Ursula Strauss, Diana Amft, 94 min., FSK 12 (cinema release on July 31st)
